Pollack Fabrics
Pollack Fabrics.
Pollack Fabric was founded in 1988 and exploded into the international scene with a series of twenty-two critically acclaimed designs. Due to the widely varied inspiration sources of Pollack Fabrics - from a simple type of yarn to an evident market need - this company has been able to provide an excellent range of designer fabrics for the high end residential and contract markets, and continues to do so today as their collection of designs is already approaching a total of 500.
The Beginnings of Pollack Fabrics: From the very beginning Pollack Fabric has aimed their sights at selling their product to high-end clients, mainly big corporations with large-scale commercial projects. The company was established by Mark Pollack, Susan Sullivan, and Rick Sullivan in 1988, releasing 22 designs to upscale corporate clients less than a year after its founding. After becoming firmly established in the corporate market, Pollack Fabrics turned its attention to the residential market during the mid 1990s. They created several lines and collections that were clearly focused on making a luxury product for high-end home owners and interior designers specializing in residential spaces. Their first collection, "Residential Collection" allowed the company to cater to both the contract and residential markets at the same time. Pollack Fabrics ventured into the high-end hospitality market in 1996, introducing their Travel & Leisure Collection. Ten years after its establishment, the company has grown exponentially in many ways; from its headquarters to its fabric line offerings, to its representatives within the U.S. and abroad. Now, more than twenty years later, this company can be considered as one of the most prolific designer fabric companies worldwide, with almost 500 in design offerings and a craftsmanship consistency worthy of emulation.
Pollack Fabric Collections: Each of the textiles from Pollack is painstakingly designed - both in the aesthetic and utilitarian sense - and produced in collaboration with some of the best mills all over the world. Pollack Fabrics Collections encompass textiles for upholstery, wall covering, and window applications. The design process begins with inspiration, continues on with innovation and usability, and ends with perfecting the design while taking into account a few key elements such as texture, color, and even price. Pollack Fabrics come in a range of fabric types, as each textile is made to be beautiful, innovative, and excellently crafted. More than 2700 colorways have been produced over the last 23 years, making the collections from Pollack an ideal choice for some of the most sophisticated interiors.
This fabric company is known for being incredibly consistent, something that is quite rare in a field that is not only a business, but also an art. One can count on Pollack Fabric releasing at least two new fabric lines each year, both with consistently high quality and workmanship. Pollack Fabrics Awards and Recognition: The accolades of Pollack Fabric Company are numerous, specifically on the groundbreaking, widely published designs of company co-founder Mark Pollack. A few of these awards include IBD awards and Roscoe/BOY awards. Many of his designs have been published by magazines and installed in various art museums as one of their permanent collections. Some of the most memorable fabric designs by Mark Pollack can be viewed at the National Design Museum, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Denver Art Museum, as well as the RISD Museum of Art. The newest collection from Pollack Fabric is their Fall 2011 Cachet Collection, which feature 26 designs for interior applications. Included in this new collection are window treatments and upholstery fabrics done in a range of subtle and innovative styling. Mark Pollack believes design and utility are not mutually exclusive. This philosophy is clearly evident in the creative designs and utilitarian appeal of Pollack Fabrics. According to Mark Pollack, If you don't design fabrics that can really be used, they are badly designed regardless of how beautiful they are.
