The Story Behind Kravet Couture

The Kravet Couture Fabrics legacy starts in 1918 when a tailor named Samuel Kravet and his four sons—Morris, Sam, Sol, and Hy—began selling custom fabrics to the New York interior design trade under the brand name S. Kravet & Sons. Kravet had immigrated from Russia to the United States in 1902, where he had quickly made a name for himself among New York City’s elite clientele. In 1938, the company opened its first Manhattan showroom, and years later, in 1960, officially changed its name to Kravet Fabrics.

Today, Kravet Fabrics is a major brand with a global influence, and a well-respected name in couture home design, with collections across four major divisions: interior design, historical properties, fashion icons, and lifestyle.
