Kravet Lee Jofa

The tradition of Lee Jofa fabric dates as far back as 1823, when George Johnson, coming from England, decided to open a rope, rigging and upholstery stuffing business in New York City. That small rope-making business is now one of the most respected names in fabric and wallpaper production and distribution. Today, the company's fabrics are considered to be among the finest in the world—created for interior spaces that demand beauty, balance and style.

In the late 20th century, Lee Jofa fabric was acquired along with Brunschwig & Fils by Kravet Fabrics, one of the oldest and most respected names in the decorative textiles industry. Six years later, Kravet Fabrics acquired GP&J Baker, a textile production business established in 1884. GP&J Baker collections were distributed throughout the company’s showrooms after the acquisition.

The Kravet Lee Jofa fabric outlet licensing division was launched in 2001, as well as the David Easton, David Hicks, Diamond and Baratta, Allegra Hicks, Suzanne Rheinstein and Eric Cohler. In 2002 the company put up Cole & Son wallpaper, and in 2004 an upholstered furniture collection was launched.

Between 2005 and 2006 four new brands joined Kravet Fabrics—Andrew Martin, McRae, Holland and Company making their fabric one of the most formidable names in the fine furniture, lighting, wallpaper and decorative textile markets.
